Asians Are Projected To Become The Largest Immigrant Group In The U.S.

The white share of the foreign-born U.S. population is set to remain at a historic low over the next five decades. Pew Research has predicted that starting in 2055, Asians will surpass Hispanics as the country’s largest immigrant group.
In 1965, 80 percent of immigrants to the U.S. were white and this dropped to 18 percent in 2015, primarily due to the abolition of a visa system favoring European nations. The U.S. is now on course to be a nation without a major racial or ethnic group by 2055.

By 2065, Hispanics and Asians will make up 31 and 38 percent of the immigrant population respectively. Asians are the only major racial or ethnic group in the U.S. whose numbers are currently rising due to immigration.
