With the India International Trade Fair 2015 starting from Saturday, roads around central and New Delhi are likely to see traffic snarls. The fair will continue till November 27.
According to Delhi Traffic Police because of the trade fair rush, congestion is expected on and around Mathura Road, Bhairon Marg, Ring Road, Shershah Road and Purana Qila Road.
“People who are not coming to the trade fair are requested to take alternative routes to avoid getting caught in jams in the area. No vehicles will be allowed to be parked anywhere on Mathura Road and Bhairon Marg. Visitors will also not be allowed to park on Sher Shah Road, Purana Qila Road, Bhagwan Dass Road and Tilak Marg,” the advisory issued by traffic police read.
Vehicles found parked on these roads will be towed and violators will be fined Rs 600 (excluding towing charges) for improper parking and disobedience of lawful instructions.
The U-turns on Mathura Road, on all cuts from W-point and T-point with Subramania Bharti Marg will also be prohibited on these days. Right turn from Mathura Road to Purana Qila will be closed.
“People are requested to use public transport to reach Pragati Maidan. Those coming by Delhi Metro may alight at Pragati Maidan Metro station and walk. People may also get down at Mandi House metro station and either walk or take the shuttle bus service coming from India Gate. Those using DTC buses for travelling from Delhi or NCR can get off at Mathura Road and Bhairon Marg,” said joint commissioner of police (traffic) Sandeep Goel.
For visitors, park and ride facilities will be available from Rajpath, C-Hexagon, Mansingh Road, Dr Zakir Hussain radial, Shahjahan Road radial, KG Marg radial and Tilak Marg radial roads. The parking lot of the Delhi Zoo will also be open for visitors. However, usual parking fee will be charged.
“There will be CCTV coverage to keep a watch any criminal and anti-social activity. People should be careful of pick-pockets and eve-teasers. Police will be there to assist people. In case of an emergency people can call us on 100 and 1095/25844444 for police assistance and traffic issues,” Goel said.
