Matang's wife held
The CBI on Wednesday arrested estranged wife of ex-Union Minister Matang Sinh and former journalist, Manoranjana Sinh, along with Santanu Ghosh, a businessman, in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam. The agency arrested Manoranjana for allegedly taking money from Saradha group chairman Sudipto Sen by threatening him.

Woman Maoist killed
A woman Maoist was shot dead in a gun battle with security forces in Chhattisgarh's Bastar district on Tuesday night. Some villagers held hostage by the rebels were rescued, the police said. The gunfight took place between a joint team of security personnel and the rebels in Chandameta village forest under Darbha police station limits.

The security wall of 15 websites of various government departments, including Assam Police, has been breached and their home pages defaced by unknown hackers. "Around 10-15 government websites have been hacked and the home pages were defaced. All sites were hosted by NIC," a police officer said.

HC rejects Teesta's plea
The Gujarat HC on Wednesday rejected the pleas of social activist Teesta Setalvad and her husband Javed Anand for defreezing their bank accounts and those of their two NGOs in the Gulberg society fund embezzlement case. The court upheld the verdict of a lower court saying probe was at a critical juncture in the case.
