"An amount of Rs 80.30 crore has been sanctioned to improve the health system strengthening project. As of now, the first installment, Rs 20.7 crore, has been released. "The money should be used by March 30, 2016, and if a certain amount is left unused then it should be deposited in the government treasury," read the order that was sent to the director general (health and medical services).

UPHSSP is a World Bank assisted project started to enhance medical health care facilities in Uttar Pradesh. Its primary objective is to improve the efficiency, quality and accountability of health services delivery in the state by strengthening its health department's management and systems capacity.

This release has come days after the government decided to add 500 more ambulances to its existing fleet of 988 vehicles under the 108 ambulance service in the state. Health facilities are likely to get a major boost once the sanctioned money is suitably utilized.
